A quick guide on some of the plant cuttings that I offer in my shop. You can find tips on plant care, growth expectations, and toxicity to pets. Most indoor plants that I offer are mildly to very toxic to pets so be mindful where you display them if you have plant hungry animals at home.
You might be lucky (like me) and have a pet who doesn't care to kill your plants...or you might not be. The plants and succulents shown the top of this list are ones you can safely let your pets take a bite of.
The Spider Plant, known for its arching green and white striped leaves, is a fast grower and produces "spiderettes" that can be easily propagated. It's adaptable to different light conditions and prefers to dry out between waterings.
The Red Prayer Plant has stunning red veins on its green leaves and grows moderately. To water propagate, cut under a Y junction (as this does plant does not have nodes) or propagate through division. It prefers low to medium light and evenly moist soil. This plant is sensitive to fluoride and chlorine in tap water and its leaves will turn brown and crispy if watered from the tap. Use distilled or rainwater instead. Fun fact: The leaves fold up at night, resembling hands in prayer.
Pilea, or the Chinese Money Plant, has round green leaves and multiplies quickly. It's propagated through offsets. Place it in bright, indirect light and let the soil dry slightly between waterings.
The Hoya displays waxy leaves and grows very slowly. Propagate it from stem cuttings. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
The Purple Passion features striking purple foliage and grows moderately. Propagate it through stem cuttings. It requires bright, indirect light and slightly damp soil. Fun fact: This plant's purple color deepens with more exposure to light.
Echeveria is a type of succulent with rosette-shaped, colorful leaves. It grows slowly and is propagated from offsets. Place it in bright sunlight and water sparingly.
Haworthias have fleshy, pointed leaves and grow at a moderate pace. Propagate them from offsets. They prefer bright, indirect light and well-draining soil
String of Hearts features cascading vines with heart-shaped leaves and grows moderately. Propagate it through cuttings. It thrives in bright, indirect light and should be allowed to partially dry between waterings.
The Elephant Bush has thick, elephant ear-like leaves and grows quickly. Propagate it from stem cuttings. It enjoys bright, indirect light and infrequent watering
Burro's Tail has trailing stems adorned with plump, blue-green leaves and grows slowly. Propagate it from stem cuttings. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
Unfortunately, the majority of the plants I offer are either mildly or very toxic to pets. Use your best judgement or keep them out of the way if you can.
The Monstera Deliciosa, with its iconic split leaves, is a fast grower and is propagated through stem cuttings. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top layer of soil dries out.
This vining plant features distinctive Swiss cheese-like leaves, grows moderately, and can be propagated through stem cuttings. It thrives in bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top inch of soil is dry.
Monstera Peru has stunning corrugated leaves, grows moderately, and can be propagated from stem cuttings. It thrives in bright, indirect light and should be kept evenly moist but not soggy.
The Golden Pothos, a fast-growing vining plant, is propagated through stem cuttings. It's a great starter plant and can survive and thrive in an office space with no windows. It's adaptable to various light conditions and should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
Jade Pothos has solid green leaves, grows quickly, and can be propagated from cuttings. It's versatile in terms of light and prefers to dry between waterings. Fun Fact: If you don't provide enough light to your other cultivars of pothos, they will revert back to the green unvariegated jade pothos.
Silver Pothos is known for its beautiful silver variegation, and is similar to Golden Pothos, it grows rapidly, is propagated through cuttings, and is flexible with light. Allow the soil to partially dry between waterings.
Snow Queen Pothos features green speckled mostly white variegated leaves, grows quickly, and is propagated from cuttings. It enjoys bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top layer of soil dries out
Marble Queen Pothos has green and white marbled leaves, grows fast, and can be propagated from cuttings. It thrives in bright, indirect light, water when soil is dry.
Pearls and Jade pothos is a smaller variety of pothos with patchy green and white leaves. Propagate from cuttings and water when soil is dry.
Neon Pothos showcases vibrant lime-green leaves, grows quickly, and is propagated from cuttings. It's adaptable to different light conditions and should be allowed to dry between waterings.
Manjula Pothos has green leaves with creamy-white variegation, grows quickly, and can be propagated from cuttings. It thrives in bright, indirect light and should be allowed to dry between waterings.
Cebu Blue Pothos has elongated, blue-green leaves, grows moderately, and can be propagated through stem cuttings. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top layer of soil dries out. If given proper support and growing conditions, it will create beautiful leaf fenestrations.
Moonlight Pothos has bright chartreuse leaves, grows moderately, and is propagated from cuttings. It thrives in bright, indirect light and should be kept slightly moist but not soggy.
The Heart Leaf Philodendron has heart-shaped leaves, grows at a moderate pace, and is propagated through stem cuttings. It prefers medium to low light and should be watered when the top inch of soil dries out.
his fast-growing vining plant has unique mini-monstera-like leaves and is propagated from cuttings. It enjoys bright, indirect light and water when soil is dry. Fun fact: It's often called "Mini Monstera" due to its leaf resemblance but is from an entirely different genus from monstera plant.
The Variegated Peace Lily has green and white leaves, grows moderately, and can be propagated through divisions. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be kept slightly moist but not soggy. It's very dramatic leaves will fall and wilt telling you when it needs to be watered.
Tradescantia Zebrina has purple and silver striped leaves, grows fast, and is propagated through cuttings. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top layer of soil dries out. Fun Fact: It's actually a succulent!
Tradescantia Nanouk has pink and green leaves, grows quickly, and can be propagated from cuttings. It thrives in bright, indirect light and prefers slightly damp soil.
Syngonium Merry Maria has beautiful dark red and green arrowhead-shaped leaves. It grows moderately, and is propagated from cuttings. It enjoys bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top inch of soil dries out.
The Syngonium Green Butterfly has unique butterfly-shaped leaves, grows at a moderate pace, and is propagated from cuttings. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
The Syngonium Berry Allusion looks very similar to Green Butterfly but has a beautiful pink striped vein on each of its leaves. It grows at a moderate pace, and is propagated from cuttings. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
The Philodendron Brasil has green and yellow variegated leaves, grows moderately, and is propagated through cuttings. It thrives in bright, indirect light, water when soil is dry.
The Robusta Rubber Tree has large, shiny leaves, grows moderately, and can be propagated from stem cuttings. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top inch of soil dries out.
The Burgundy Rubber Tree has dark red-tinged leaves, grows at a moderate pace, and can be propagated from stem cuttings. It thrives in bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top inch of soil dries out.
The Ruby Rubber Tree has ruby-red stems and glossy pink and green leaves. It grows moderately, and can be propagated from stem cuttings. It prefers bright, indirect light and should be watered when the top inch of soil dries out.
The Snake Plant, known for its upright, sword-like leaves, is a slow grower and can be propagated from divisions. It's adaptable to low light conditions and should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
